NEWS: CIRCULAR ECONOMY: IN TRICASE, THE FIRST PARTICIPATORY WORKSHOP OF THE CIRCUS PROJECT

A participatory meeting on the circular economy took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Celacanto in the Port Museum of Tricase.
The event emerged from the synergy between two aligned initiatives: the European project CIRCUS and the local initiative CIRCOLARE FA BENE.

For the CIRCUS project – funded by the Interreg IPA Adrion programme and coordinated by CIHEAM Bari, with the Municipality of Tricase as a partner – the event represented a natural continuation of the focus group held on February 7 at the CIHEAM Bari Tricase office. On that occasion, a collective reflection began on the state of circular economy practices in the local agri-food sector, involving representatives from public institutions, businesses, universities and citizens.

This workshop was the first of three meetings planned as part of the project and it explored two key topics for the local area: organic waste and plastic.

The active participation of the local community confirmed both a strong interest and a shared commitment to driving concrete and sustainable change.

On the same topics discussed during the workshop, students from the Tricase Via Apulia Institute and the Stampacchia High School were involved in the days leading up to the event, thanks also to the participation of biologist and former Member of the European Parliament Gianni Tamino, a professor at the University of Padova.
