NEWS: TRICASE: THE CIRCUS PROJECT TACKLES FOOD WASTE

The CIRCUS project continues its meetings in Tricase, aimed at identifying and developing pilot actions to improve the sustainability of agri-food systems in coastal communities. The second workshop, held in recent days, focused on food waste in school catering, with particular attention to monitoring leftovers and defining possible reduction strategies.

The initiative was carried out with the scientific and methodological support of the University of Bologna and involved representatives of the municipal administration, school catering service providers, and the two local educational institutions. The workshop served as an opportunity to share data and observations, as well as practical experiences and operational proposals to raise awareness among children and families and encourage healthier, more responsible eating habits.

The goal is twofold: on the one hand, to reduce food waste and promote a more responsible use of resources; on the other, to turn leftovers into potential resources, exploring innovative recovery and reuse solutions in line with the principles of the circular economy. In the coming months, the process will continue with the design of educational activities and practical experiments directly connected to school life and the local community.
